Technology Council of NWPA

Northwest PA Broadband Network

The Broadband Network was formed in 2009 to facilitate discussions amongst telecommunications providers, community leaders and business leaders on community development opportunities involving high speed connectivity.

Strategies

  • Act as a facilitator between ARRA grant recipients and local community interests.
  • Convene telecommunications experts to design a regional strategy for copper, fiber and wireless deployment.
  • Advise local communities on how to catalyze high speed broadband deployment.

Results

The Network has been successful in convening experts, technology providers, economic development, public safety, rural business, education and technology executives in designing a regional strategy for high speed broadband deployment. Work with the KINBER Network in communicating an outreach strategy for the region has begun. Some of the group’s leaders are actively engaged in advising the Erie County eGovernment Initiative.
